The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise: A Novel
by: Julia Stuart
I loved this little gem. You will too if you like Tower history or are any kind of an anglophile. Balthazar Jones and his wife Hebe have lived in the tower for a while now, since Balthazar got his job as a Beefeater in the Tower of London(i.e. tour guide in a fancy costume). They are in the midst of a marital crises, brought on by their lack of communication and mutual heartbreak since the untimely death of their 11 year old son, Milo. Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captives
by: Thomas French
The words of Tom French that I HAVEN'T READ can be counted on both hands. Again, this book does not disappoint. Even in his detailed and shocking UNANSWERED CRIES, I could not tell if Tom considered the convicted killer of Karen Gregory in the small town of Gulfport, FL, guilty or not. Objectivity--not always easy for a feature writer--should be his middle name. Good Night, Gorilla
by: Peggy Rathmann
This story is great now for my 10 month old. He loves the pictures (there's very little text). I haven't made anything up sing songy to go with it, but I could. When he can talk, it'll be even more awesome because he can come up with his own narration and have a new story every time.

Dear Zoo: A Lift-the-Flap Book
by: Rod Campbell
My son is only five months old, but already loves to 'help' lift the flaps in this adorable book. The text is nice & large, & the pictures are bright & simple for little ones. The flaps are interesting & varied, but are not as durable as they should be. Also, I felt that the name of the animals should be included somewhere, so there's a connection between revealing them & saying their names.
